Is it stress? Maybe I need to stop the HIIT workouts and take some ashwagandha and magnesium.
Is it hormone imbalance? Maybe I need to eat pro-metabolic (more carbs) and focus more on my minerals.
Going down the rabbit hole
If you’ve been down the rabbit hole of researching your symptoms and tried to figure out how to address them more holistically, you’ve probably thought to yourself– how do I know where to start?
How will I know if it’s working?
How long will it take to feel better?
What if I’ve got multiple issues going on at once?
How do I know what to address first, or what do I do if the dietary advice for each of my conditions actually conflicts?
Or worse… what if I feel like I've already tried it all and I don’t know why nothing seems to stick?
Breaking it all down
It all feels so complicated, doesn’t it?
Let me propose that it doesn’t have to be complicated at all.
Nuanced? Yes. But wellness, at its core, can actually be quite simple. We’re just asking all the wrong questions.
Most of what I’ll teach you here I have un-learned from nursing school, and even some of it from nutrition school too. My degrees and credentials don’t make me an expert in your condition—YOU are the only expert on YOU.
What I have learned and what I am excited to teach you are the foundational principles that help the body function optimally and enhance its innate healing potential.
Let’s break this down into three main principles:
Nourish– We must give the body nourishment if we expect it to thrive. Here at Storied Wellness Co., we prioritize nourishment in 6 key areas—food, sleep, sunshine, movement, spiritual wellness, and community.
I want to teach you how to return to the basics of health that our ancestors have relied on for millennia and that we’ve largely forgotten or ignored in modern society. When we slow down enough to make each of these key areas a priority, we provide fuel for the mitochondria and safety for the nervous system that is needed to experience deeper healing.
Digest– We believe that all disease begins in the gut, which houses more than 70% of our immune system. This means that improving gut dysfunction and maintaining proper elimination boosts immune resilience and keeps us healthy.
When the gastrointestinal system isn’t digesting, absorbing, and eliminating as it’s designed, it affects every other part of the body. We have to address the major disruptors of gut dysbiosis–bacteria, viruses, mold, and the parasites that soak them up like sponges–and make sure that the body’s exit routes stay open to eliminate their toxic waste.
Detoxify– We also know that our modern world exposes us to toxins of all kinds and that our bodies often harbor pathogens as a defense mechanism against them. We believe that supporting detox pathways and reducing daily exposures are essential parts of maintaining wellness.
